There were things other than butterflies in the garden, though.
There were a number of exotic birds, including this little
quail-like bird. He didn't hold still very well, either.
The pigeons made better photographic subjects.
This odd little black bird watches from a branch.
This garden also had its share of exotic flowers – more
tropical than the Butchart gardens, which was mostly outdoors.
I really like the sharp contrasting patterns on this flower.

There were several butterflies following the orange,
black, and white
theme. This one is called a helicon.
I didn't figure out what kind this one was.
It did hold still pretty well for photos, though.
This butterfly looks a lot like a tiger swallowtail, but is
actually a tree nymph.
