8-31-05: We think this might be coral. Steve didn't think coral grew up here. We did some net surfing after we got home and found out that it does, so this might be it.
8-31-05: Three snails and three limpets. Limpets are basically snails with a conical, rather than spiral, shell.
8-31-05: A closer look at a chiton. This particular one has purple fuzz around the edges. The inside of the shell is a lovely iridescent sky blue.
8-31-05: Part of the trail
led straight up a
hill, with a rope tied to a tree to hang on to for the last 15
feet or so. The view of the shore from up there was pretty neat,
though.
8-31-05: On the trail back through the woods, I found this patch of moss. I really like the pink and green moss, and the black and green ferns.
8-31-05: The inevitable slug pictures. Here's a banana slug doing its favorite activity – eating mushrooms.
