4-26-05: One of the interesting things about living in an old house is that you occasionally get things in from outside. This little guy was just wandering around the hallway in our second floor, while the cats ignored it studiously. He's too young to even play possum.

4-26-05: Nor did he seem to particularly mind being scooped up in a towel, having his picture taken, and then being taken back outside.

I think opossums are really cute at this age.

6-29-05: We took a look around Haney Meadows. It turned out that we were just a little early for the boletes and mostly too late for the morels, but in plenty of time for the wildflowers.

7-4-05: We decided to spend the Fourth of July weekend in Canada. Chris and Sue knew of a resort on Vancouver Island called Yellow Point. I had never been to a resort before. It's an interesting compromise between a hotel and camping, and also its own thing. In addition to the giant chess and backgammon sets by the sea, there was a big room in the lodge with couches, a fireplace, and lots of books and games. There was a dining hall which served three meals a day, bicycles and kayaks free for the use...
